Meet Judge Mavel Ruiz
Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, Judge Mavel Ruiz came to Miami in 1966 after her family fled political oppression. Like so many families in our community, her journey began with sacrifice and hope.
Raised right here in Miami-Dade County, she is a proud graduate of Hialeah High School. Her life story reflects the resilience, hard work, and determination that define this community.
Driven by a desire to give back, Judge Ruiz went on to become the first in her family to graduate from college and law school—building a career deeply rooted in service, integrity, and justice.
